🔌⚡️Bidirectional charging in the Papieri

Cham Swiss Properties is launching a pioneering project for grid-supportive charging at the Papieri site in Cham, demonstrating that bidirectional charging can also work in a large neighborhood: integrated into its own power grid, electric vehicles in Papieri Cham become part of the energy solution.

ZUG ALLIANCE is bringing bidirectional charging into practice in Switzerland for the first time with scalable technology. The pilot project, which has been operational since September 2025, combines mobility, energy, and infrastructure in an innovative way and provides valuable insights for the energy transition, based on rapidly scalable pre-series and series technology.

The Papieri site in Cham is the location of the currently ongoing practical test on “peak shaving,” aimed at gaining insights into the potential of bidirectional electric vehicle charging technology. The Canton of Zug supports the “grid-supportive charging” project as part of its cantonal energy and climate strategy.
