Cham – a place of vitality, natural beauty and charm

Central, vibrant, peaceful, natural, stunning: Cham is one of the jewels of Lake Zug. Nestled within the Ennetsee region, Cham is perennially popular as a place to live within the canton of Zug, and the reason is obvious: its 17,000 or so residents love the lively center of this lakeside village, which also boasts pristine recreation areas, sweeping parks, safe paths for schoolchildren, great schools and areas that have been planned to include traffic calming measures. Cham is simply the perfect place to live and work. Tradition and innovation are in harmony here. Residents can make the most of all sorts of cultural and sports pursuits, while the education, health and transport infrastructure is simply superb. Cham is also one of the municipalities with the lowest tax in Switzerland.

It regularly comes top in Swiss ratings of places to live. As a member of the ZUGWEST organization, the village is committed to working with figures from business and politics to ensure that it remains a top place to be. Service providers, tradespeople and companies all actively network with others from the local region. What’s more, hardly any other municipality in central Switzerland is as proactive in dealing with urban planning issues as Cham. The village was awarded the Wakker Prize in 1991 by the Swiss Heritage Society for its far-sighted open space planning.
