Living on the factory site
Living on the factory site
At first the foremen lived on the factory site, then for decades nobody did – for safety reasons. But now, following the shutdown of paper production, the factory site is once again an attractive residential area.
From 1874, foremen lived on the factory site, which gave them a very short commute to work. The villa-like 'Director's house' followed in 1893. But living in the middle of a working factory brought conflicts and dangers with it. The residential buildings therefore gradually made way to create space for manufacturing.
This left the factory site exclusively for production. After paper production ended, it quickly became clear that people should soon live on the former factory site again. In 2022, the time had come, after a break of several decades.
