Papieri Fäscht 2026: A Look Back

This year’s Papieri Fäscht took place on 19 September 2026 in glorious sunshine and attracted around 4,500 visitors to the neighbourhood. Smiling and amazed faces in the newly opened shops, drinks and delicious food at the food stalls, climbing, balancing and creativity at the Ninja Challenge: the festival brought the Papieri to life.

There was plenty going on across the entire site at Papieri Fäscht 2026, with around 4,500 visitors joining the celebrations. Alongside many Papieri residents, the festival also attracted numerous people from Cham and the surrounding communities. They met familiar and new faces, discovered the diversity of the Papieri and took on this year’s Ninja Challenge. The atmosphere was cheerful and relaxed, with plenty of activity throughout the entire site.

Across the Papieri with the Ninja Pass

Climbing, balancing, putting their skills to the test, getting creative and collecting stamps along the way: the Ninja Challenge took ninjas young and old across the entire Papieri site. At numerous stations hosted by local businesses and set up around the public squares, there were challenges to complete and new things to discover.

Visitors were on the move throughout the whole site, going from one station to the next, stopping by local businesses, exploring new areas and meeting up again and again in the squares and alleyways. In this way, the Ninja Challenge playfully connected the different places and experiences across the Papieri.

Anyone who completed enough challenges could look forward to an instant prize and was also entered into the grand final draw. The main prize, raffled among all participants, was a CHF 500 voucher for Kesselhaus Bar & Grill.

The third phase takes shape

Vibrant Lagergasse

There was even more to discover this year. With the completion of the third construction phase – Buildings E and F on either side of Lagergasse – as well as the historic Kesselhaus, the development of the Papieri has taken another major step forward.

Now everything is close at hand. The neighbourhood has come to life, with everything you need for everyday life right on your doorstep.

Discover the openings

Many of the new businesses were already part of this year’s Papieri Fäscht. Some had already opened their doors, while others took the opportunity to introduce themselves and showcase what they have to offer. With Migros, Beck & Kafi by the Stiftung St. Jakob, Hair Loft and HonigBlüte, as well as Vinovativ, TopPharm Papieri Apotheke & Drogerie and Sanitas Troesch, the new diversity around the green Lagergasse was on full display.

The historic Kesselhaus also opened its doors for a first glimpse inside. Where energy was once generated for paper production, new spaces for dining, fitness and work are now taking shape, including Kesselhaus Bar & Grill, ARB Fitness and new office spaces.

A celebration for the whole region

On Papieri Platz, the large Ninja course, DJ beats and hosting by Thomy Jeker created a lively atmosphere. Street food, a bar and other culinary offerings provided plenty of opportunities to take a break, sit together and enjoy the day.

But Papieri Fäscht was by no means limited to the main square. Throughout the alleyways, shops, studios and buildings, visitors were busy trying things out, discovering new places, eating, talking and laughing. Papieri Fäscht brings together Papieri residents with visitors from Cham and the surrounding communities, turning the Papieri into a meeting place for all generations.

With the completion of the third construction phase, around half of the overall site development is now complete. Papieri Fäscht 2026 showcased the full diversity of the neighbourhood and welcomed around 4,500 visitors.
